February: A Month to Savor

February 3, 2020

“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.”

Psalm 34:8, NIV

As a writer, I love words. I have phrases and verses all around my office and in my home. I’m a sucker for all of those scripty canvas prints and pillows at Hobby Lobby. Ever wonder who they are sold to? That would be me.

Thankfully, the Lord above also knows my deep affection for words, since He placed that desire there long ago. For the last year, the Lord has been really kind to me in giving me focus words for each month. Like a word for the year, I get a word for the month. They are revealed through the Holy Spirit to me through songs and verses, messages, conversations and so on. Nothing wild, just a word my spirit latches onto and I research about, pray about and share with those closest to me.

But now, after a few months and tons of prayer, I’m finally able to share each word as a go throughout this year. I’ll be sure to share the verse that supports it and whatever I feel the Lord is speaking to my heart so you can treasure and apply to your own circumstances each month. I am so excited! I truly believe the Lord is asking us to go deeper as his children, to listen to Him more clearly and to be expectant of His promises this year. He has good things in store for you and if anything, let this month’s word and verse encourage you!

Savor - such a fun word, right? When I first heard this word and started seeing it pop up everywhere I instantly thought about food. More specifically the Food Network or something! After some careful research, I found that the word “savor” means “taste.” So, naturally, my mind went straight to Psalm 34:8 - “Taste and see that the Lord is good…”

He is doing just that this month - letting us taste and see that He is good. He is good to us in our shortcomings, failures, heart breaks, blessings and successes. He is good when we forget and only focus on our lack. He is good when we have messed up, and He is good when we stay in time with His will. Friend, He is good all the time because He is constant, never-changing, never-ending God.

I encourage you this month to lean into His goodness, to search wholeheartedly for His savory presence; to taste and see. Savor Him this month. Let His goodness in your life drip like honey. He is for you, not against you. He is calling you deeper into His presence. Spend more time with Him this month - rest in His goodness and His faithfulness knowing that He has your best interest in mind.

Best,

Hannah Faith

PS - I did you a severe injustice by not starting to share these in January. So, if you’ll give me grace, you can read January’s word and His promise for us here.
