“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:18-19, NIV
Around the start of every year one particular verse stands out above the rest on every social media and Bible devotion channel – Isaiah 43:19 – “Behold, I am doing a new thing!” A new year and a new thing, it seems to go in tangent together. But, this year the Lord didn’t let my spirit immediately attach to this verse.
So, it came as no surprise to my spirit when I heard “way maker” as the promise for March. In the third month of this new year, way maker seems like the best of who God is right now. Maybe there are things still attached to you from 2019 that you can’t seem to fully shake off. Or perhaps your expectations for a better new year were supposed to start in January, but here we are in March and nothing has seemed to change.
Friend, don’t lose hope! Come into March with greater expectation for “He who promised is faithful” (Hebrews 10:23)! This month, I keep searching my heart over and over for what the Lord is wanting to show us. He is THE Way Maker! There is no other way around the problems, frustrations or joys of life other than Him. We might plan our lives, but as the Psalmist wrote, “He orders our steps.” Everything flows from and through Him. His plan for your life isn’t based on January, it’s based on when He decides to release the “new thing.”
So, while we might be three months into 2020, take heart – He is making a way! He is doing a new thing!
This month, my prayer is that you see the crooked paths turn straight before you. I pray the dark places in your life illuminate as you take another step towards the greatest plans He has for you. There is something glorious He is desiring to show you, and may you see that plan start to unfold this month. For those who have been waiting on a promise, He is the promise keeper, too. He is the way to the promise and keep holding onto Him until you see the promise kept. I pray a spirit of expectation is released over your life and that you hope with a greater hope. That your faith is increased even when it doesn’t make sense. This month, you are coming out of the wilderness and the desert – do you not see it? Keep the faith; keep holding on. There is something significant about all of this, and He is making it clear to those who believe with great faith.
